Still Have Questions?

We're always happy to chat. If you can't find what you're looking for, get in touch with our friendly team and we'll help you find the right tutor for your child.

All of our tutors are UK-qualified teachers or subject specialists with proven experience working with students from KS2 through to A-Level. Every tutor is fully DBS checked and personally vetted before joining our platform — so you can have complete peace of mind.

We offer both one-to-one and small group sessions depending on your child's needs and your preference. One-to-one sessions provide the most focused, personalised support, while small group sessions can be a great option for 11+ preparation.

We take the time to understand your child's year group, subject needs, learning style, and goals before recommending a tutor. Our matching process ensures your child works with someone who is the right fit — both academically and personally.

Absolutely. Each tutor has a detailed profile including their qualifications, subject specialisms, experience, and parent reviews — so you can make an informed choice before committing to any sessions.

We recommend starting 11+ preparation in Year 4 or early Year 5 to allow enough time to build strong foundations in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths, and English. Starting early reduces stress and maximises your child's chances of success.

Session fees vary depending on the subject, level, and type of session chosen. Contact us for a personalised quote — we'll find an option that works for your child and your budget.

For Literature, we cover set text analysis, themes and character, context, and essay writing technique — ensuring students are fully prepared for both their coursework and final exams.

Yes — we offer specialist A-Level English Language and English Literature tuition. For Literature, we support students with close textual analysis, comparative essays, contextual understanding, and coursework. For Language, we cover language investigation, discourse analysis, and the study of language change and diversity. We work with all major A-Level exam boards.

Absolutely. Creative writing is one of the areas where great tutoring makes the most noticeable difference. Our English tutors help students develop their own distinctive writing voice, master narrative structure, use descriptive language effectively, and approach creative writing tasks with genuine confidence rather than a blank page anxiety.

Yes — reading comprehension is a core focus at every level. Our tutors teach students how to read actively, identify key information, make inferences, analyse language and structure, and respond to texts in a way that maximises exam marks. These skills improve performance not just in English but across all subjects that involve reading and written responses.

Chemistry FAQs

Still Have Questions?

Can't find what you're looking for? Our friendly team is always happy to help. Get in touch and we'll answer any questions you have about our tutors, subjects, or how to get started.

Our KS3 chemistry tuition covers: the particle model and states of matter, atomic structure and the periodic table, elements, compounds and mixtures, chemical reactions and equations, acids and alkalis, combustion and oxidation, and the properties and uses of materials. We build strong conceptual foundations that make the transition into GCSE Chemistry significantly more manageable.

We cover the complete GCSE Chemistry curriculum for AQA, Edexcel, and OCR — including atomic structure and the periodic table, bonding and structure, quantitative chemistry, chemical changes, energy changes, the rate and extent of chemical change, organic chemistry, chemical analysis, and the Earth's atmosphere and resources. We give particular attention to required practicals, calculation questions, and six-mark extended response questions, which are crucial for achieving the top grades.

Our A-Level Chemistry tuition covers all core and optional topics across AQA, Edexcel, and OCR specifications — including physical chemistry (atomic structure, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibria, redox, and electrochemistry), inorganic chemistry (periodicity, Group 2, Group 7, transition metals), and organic chemistry (alkanes, alkenes, halogenoalkanes, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, aromatic chemistry, polymers, and synthesis). We also focus heavily on practical skills, data analysis, and the mathematical demands of A-Level chemistry.

Yes — this is one of the most common challenges we address. Mole calculations, titration problems, yield and percentage calculations, and equilibrium expressions can feel overwhelming at first. Our chemistry tutors break every calculation type down into clear, repeatable steps — building the mathematical confidence your child needs to approach any quantitative chemistry question accurately and efficiently.

Absolutely. Organic chemistry is the area where many GCSE and A-Level students struggle most — particularly with reaction mechanisms, synthesis routes, and identifying functional groups. Our tutors use clear visual diagrams, worked examples, and systematic pattern-recognition techniques to make organic chemistry logical, learnable, and far less intimidating than students often expect.

Yes — exam technique is built into every GCSE and A-Level chemistry programme. We work through past papers from all major exam boards, practise the command words used in exam questions (describe, explain, evaluate, suggest), develop strategies for extended response questions, and ensure your child knows exactly how to present calculations and justify conclusions to earn maximum marks.

11+ Exam FAQs

Still Have Questions?

Can't find what you're looking for? Our friendly team is always happy to help. Get in touch and we'll answer any questions you have about our tutors, subjects, or how to get started.

Verbal Reasoning tests a child's ability to understand and reason using words and language. Our 11+ tutors cover all 21 common VR question types including: finding words within words, letter series and codes, word analogies, number and letter sequences, hidden words, and anagram-based questions. We use a technique-first approach — teaching children a reliable method for each question type so they can solve even unfamiliar questions with confidence.

Non-Verbal Reasoning assesses a child's ability to identify patterns, relationships, and sequences using shapes and diagrams — skills that are not taught in primary school. Our tutors systematically introduce all key NVR question types including: pattern recognition, shape rotation and reflection, matrix completion, series completion, odd one out, and spatial reasoning. We build these skills gradually and reinforce them with regular timed practice.

The 11+ Maths paper goes slightly beyond the standard primary school curriculum. Our preparation covers: all four operations, fractions, decimals and percentages, ratio and proportion, algebra and sequences, geometry (area, perimeter, angles, symmetry), data handling, word problems, and speed and distance problems. We place particular emphasis on multi-step word problems, which are a key differentiator between average and top-performing candidates.

The 11+ English component typically includes reading comprehension, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary. For CEM-style exams, cloze exercises and vocabulary-in-context questions are particularly important. Our tutors work on all of these areas alongside wider reading habits and vocabulary development — because a broad, rich vocabulary is one of the clearest differentiators between strong and outstanding 11+ candidates.

We prepare children for all major 11+ exam formats including GL Assessment (used by the Slough Consortium, Buckinghamshire, Kent, and many other grammar schools), CEM (used by schools in Birmingham, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, and others), and ISEB (used by many independent schools). We always tailor our preparation to the specific format used by your child's target school — so nothing is wasted and everything is relevant.

We recommend starting structured 11+ preparation in Year 4 or early Year 5. This gives your child two or more years to build genuine understanding — rather than rushing through content in the final few months before the exam. Starting early also means your child can approach the exam with confidence rather than anxiety. That said, if your child is already in Year 5 or Year 6, we can still put together a focused, intensive programme that maximises their chances. It is never too late to start.

Yes — timed mock exams are an essential part of every 11+ preparation programme. We introduce mock papers progressively, starting with individual timed sections before moving to full mock exams under real exam conditions. After every mock, we review performance carefully with your child — identifying which question types cost the most marks and adjusting the programme accordingly. Exam confidence is built through practice, and we make sure your child gets plenty of it.
